5 Minute Meditation: Relax Your Body & Mind
Great Meditation
5 mins 35 secs
Ages 11 - 17

This video guides viewers through a 5-minute meditation session designed to relax both the body and mind. It emphasizes deep breathing, releasing tension, and allowing the mind to rest, promoting a sense of well-being and relaxation.
Begin by getting into a comfortable seated position, sit bones balanced on either side, palms resting open in your lap. When you're ready, softly close your eyes. Begin to tune in to your breath and your body, letting each inhale feel rich and luxurious, and relaxing on every out-breath. Belly and ribcage expand as you breathe in, and contract as you breathe out. In this moment, you recognize all is well. You feel into the feeling of all being well in your breath and in your body, zooming your awareness into any areas in which you're holding unnecessary tension, and you intentionally let those muscles release and relax. Allow gravity to take over. If you need to, you may clench muscles first and then release. Either way, really tune in to the weight of gravity, letting any muscles you do not need to use right now, such as the muscles in your face, neck, arms, and legs, just let them relax, become heavy and loose. There's nothing to hold onto here; it is safe to let go. As you feel your body relaxing, you notice how doing so has given your mind a break. Let your mind rest and relax on the focus of your physically relaxed body, staying present with the good feelings within you. If at any moment your mind decides to wander, that's okay. Let yourself off the hook and just return your mind's awareness to your relaxed breath.
