This video provides an overview of twelve major brain health conditions, their symptoms, and the importance of early detection and management. It emphasizes the physical and mental impacts of these conditions and discourages self-diagnosis.
Like other common disorders such as diabetes, mental illnesses or brain health conditions can be diagnosed, treated, and managed. The twelve major brain health conditions are: anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, major depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophrenia. It's important to realize that while certain symptoms may correspond to specific health conditions, it is vital that you do not self-diagnose or make assumptions. Someone living with a brain health condition may experience some of the following thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, such as extreme or excessive dieting. The rest of the body is very much affected by brain health. Some physical symptoms may include nausea, chest pain, headache, lightheadedness, insomnia, numbness or tingling, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, trembling, chills, sweating, abdominal cramping, unsteadiness, a blank mind, muscle tension, and blacking out. People living with a brain health condition can and do live healthy lives, but it's important to: 1. Detect and treat early. 2. Carefully manage and control.
