They help separate you from the distress of your emotional state or situation. Although you cannot eliminate bad experiences and emotions entirely, grounding techniques allow you to lessen the impact these feelings have on your life at the moment. In this video, we will briefly look at the 5-4-3-2-1 technique to give you a basic understanding. You will have access to the full instructions following this video. This technique forces you to use all of your senses to notice things about your surroundings that you might usually not notice. Let's start. What are five things that you can see? How about four things that you can feel? Next, identify three things that you can hear. Now, name two things that you can smell. And finally, one thing that you can taste. For each step, try to focus on things that you're
