This short video features Daniel, an HIV positive individual, discussing the importance of mental health and a strong support system in managing his condition. He highlights the role his mother plays in reminding him to take care of his physical health and reinforcing his self-worth.
"Friends and family definitely keep me grounded. Being HIV positive, it's not just a physical thing; it's also about mental health as well. Luckily, I have an amazing support system, like my mother. She is my rock and does everything under the sun to make sure that I am okay. Whether it's calling me, reminding me to take my pill, ensuring I'm eating healthily, or making sure I go to the gym and do what I need to do, she's always there. She constantly reminds me, 'Hey, this may be a thing, but you're just as good as anybody else. Just because you're HIV positive doesn't make you any less of a person.'"
