20 Days to Thrive

Welcome everyone! Today we begin our “20 Days to Thrive” journey by co-creating our Class Contract. Introduce yourself, set a positive tone, and share the session objective: define clear, student-centered norms.

Introduction

Explain what the First 20 Days journey is and why early routines matter. Emphasize that when students co-create expectations, they take ownership and build respect.

Brainstorm Expectations (10 min)

Organize students into small groups. Distribute sticky notes and markers. Circulate to prompt positive, actionable phrasing.

Share & Consolidate (10 min)

Have each group post their top three expectations on chart paper. Lead the class in clustering and refining. Ask probing questions to combine duplicates and clarify wording.

Finalize Class Contract (5 min)

Read through the consolidated list together. Project or hand out the contract template. Guide students as they transfer statements and then ask each to sign or initial.

Next Steps & Closing

Wrap up by reminding students that this contract guides our daily interactions. Preview tomorrow’s first day of learning and encourage them to refer back to the contract.
