Animal Families Uncovered

Greet the student and introduce yourself. Explain that today’s goal is to explore how baby animals and their parents look alike and how they grow and change. Mention you’ll be using photo cards and a worksheet.

Key Terms

Define each term aloud and ask the student to repeat. Use gestures or pointing to reinforce meaning.

Observation Time

Show a pair of [Animal Family Photo Cards](#animal-family-photo-cards) (e.g., duckling & duck). Ask the prompt and encourage the student to speak freely.

Example Comparison

Use the kitten and cat cards as a guided example. Point out two similarities and one difference, modeling labeling.

Your Turn: Comparison Worksheet

Explain the worksheet steps clearly and demonstrate drawing a line and writing labels on a sample pair.

Reflection & Discussion

After the student finishes, review their answers. Praise correct observations and gently prompt if any are missing.

Life Cycle Recap

Summarize by drawing a simple life cycle diagram on paper or the board. Point to each stage as you recap.
