Detective Briefing

Students will role-play as detectives, collecting and classifying clues about appropriate vs. inappropriate behaviors to solve a classroom mystery and reinforce positive social skills.

This interactive mystery builds self-awareness, teamwork, and positive behavior identification by engaging 2nd graders in a hands-on Tier 2 social skills activity, strengthening their understanding and application of targeted behavioral supports.

Welcome students to the Behavior Detectives session. Explain that they will become detectives on a mission to solve a classroom behavior mystery by gathering and classifying clues.

Our Mission

Read each bullet. Emphasize teamwork and the importance of behavior classification to help our friend.

What Is a Clue?

Define “clue” for students. Give one quick example: raising your hand is a clue of an appropriate behavior.

Clue Types

Go through each example. Ask if any students have other examples they want to share.

Team Clue Hunt

Explain how to form teams and distribute the Clue Hunt cards. Remind students to discuss each card and work together.
