Understanding Bullying

Introduce the session’s goals: define bullying, identify types, and understand its impact. Encourage students to think about why learning this matters.

What Is Bullying?

Ask students: “What does bullying mean to you?” Record key words on chart paper (hurtful, repeated, power imbalance).

Four Types of Bullying

Introduce each type with a brief example. Point to chart paper columns labeled Physical, Verbal, Social, Cyber.

Examples in Action

Invite students to add their own examples on sticky notes under each type on the chart paper.

Scenario Analysis Activity

Distribute the handout. Remind groups to work together and respect everyone’s ideas.

Group Discussion

Have each group share one scenario and explain its type and impact. Guide discussion toward empathy and bystander choices.

Exit Ticket

Explain the exit ticket. Collect responses to check understanding and address any questions next time.
