Calm Quest: Session 1

Welcome the student and set a positive, confidential tone. Emphasize that today’s goal is to learn about stress and a calming technique. Keep voice warm and inviting.

What Is Stress?

Ask the student what comes to mind when they hear “stress.” Write any keywords they mention on a whiteboard or paper. Then share these definitions and examples.

Your Personal Stress Signals

Hand the student the reflection sheet. Guide them through each section, prompting them to recall 2–3 specific times they felt stressed. Ask follow-up questions to clarify physical vs. emotional signals.

Deep Breathing Technique

Display or hand out the breathing chart. Model the inhale–hold–exhale pattern with a count of your own. Encourage the student to follow along and offer gentle posture corrections.

Reflection and Journaling

Provide the journal template and encourage honest reflection. Ask the student to share one insight if they feel comfortable.
