Slide Deck

Calm Quest

Welcome the student and introduce the session objectives: identifying triggers, practicing breathing, and reframing thoughts. Explain that these tools can be used anytime they feel anxious.

What Is Anxiety?

Ask the student what anxiety feels like to them. Invite them to share a recent anxious moment. Emphasize that anxiety is common and manageable.

Identify Your Triggers

Guide the student through recalling one or two recent situations that made them anxious. Provide the [Anxiety Trigger Worksheet](#anxiety-trigger-worksheet) and have them list triggers.

Guided Breathing Exercise

Introduce and model the 4-7-8 breathing technique. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Practice three cycles together, noticing how the body relaxes.

Cognitive Reframing

Explain the cognitive reframing steps. Ask the student to pick one negative thought from their worksheet and write a balanced alternative on the [Calm Quest Reflection Worksheet](#calm-quest-reflection-worksheet).

Reflection & Next Steps

Invite reflection on how they feel now versus the start. Have them complete the mood scale on the reflection sheet. Encourage setting a goal to practice breathing daily and remind them these tools are always available.
