Student will learn to identify their emotions and select personalized coping strategies, creating a “Calm Toolbox” to manage stress during challenging moments.

Equips the student with self-regulation skills and proactive coping tools, reducing anxiety and improving focus in and out of the classroom.

Calm Toolbox

Welcome the student warmly. Explain that today’s session is about creating a personal Calm Toolbox—a set of strategies they can use anytime they feel stressed. Mention that we’ll work step by step, and there’s no right or wrong answer.

1. Introduction & Check-In

Guide the student to the [Emotion Check-In Form](#emotion-check-in-form). Normalize all emotions and remind them this is a safe space.

2. Identify Emotions & Stressors

Ask the student to recall a recent stressful moment. Encourage them to be specific about what happened and how it made them feel.

3. Explore Coping Strategies

Lay out the [Coping Strategy Cards](#coping-strategy-cards). Briefly describe each: deep breathing, grounding, positive self-talk, etc. Let them handle the cards.

4. Create Your Calm Toolbox

Hand over the [Calm Toolbox Worksheet](#calm-toolbox-worksheet). Encourage creativity—drawing, symbols, or notes that make it personal.

5. Reflection & Next Steps

Provide the [Reflection Journal Template](#reflection-journal-template). Encourage the student to set a simple plan for practicing one strategy this week.
