Welcome students! Introduce today’s small-group session, explain that we’ll practice conversation and listening skills to help everyone feel more confident talking with friends.

Read through each objective aloud. Emphasize that these skills help them make and keep friends.

Explain why social skills are important: good friends, positive classroom, feeling supported.

Walk students through the agenda so they know what to expect and how the time breaks down.

Demonstrate drawing a card and asking the question. Model active listening by paraphrasing before answering.

Pair up students, hand out scenario cards. Encourage them to switch roles after 2 minutes.

Distribute the worksheet and give students 3–4 minutes to write. Then invite a few volunteers to share.

Encourage genuine compliments. Emphasize listening and kindness. Model one if needed.

Congratulate students on their practice today. Encourage them to use these skills every day.
