Welcome the student and introduce the session. Explain that by the end of today’s session they’ll have their own chore plan and tracking system.
Ask the student: “What chores have you done before? How did it feel?” Use their answers to spark conversation.
Highlight how chores help the family run smoothly and build skills the student can use in school and beyond.
Hand out the Chore Assessment Worksheet. Guide the student to rate interest and confidence. Discuss which chores feel easiest or most challenging.
Create Your Personalized Chore Plan
Provide the Personalized Chore Plan Template. Help the student choose 3–4 chores, assign days/times, and set completion criteria.
Set Up Your Progress Tracker
Show the Progress Tracker Chart. Agree on a routine cue (e.g., after school). Practice marking today’s chores as an example.
Reflection & Goal Setting
Use the Reflection Questions Prompt Sheet. Ask: “What might get in the way? How will you handle it?” Then set a small reward.
Review the student’s plan and tracker. Confirm they know when to update and when you’ll check in. Encourage consistency.
