Color Families Explained: Analogous Colors

Welcome the students and introduce today’s focus. Explain that they will learn about analogous color families and how to use them in art. Mention that this deck will guide them toward their collage activity.

What Are Analogous Colors?

Define key vocabulary. Point to each hue on a physical or projected color wheel as you speak.

Analogous Trio on the Color Wheel

Display a color wheel graphic and highlight one analogous trio (e.g., yellow, yellow-orange, orange). Invite students to identify the trio.

Analogous Colors in Real Life

Show photos or ask students to brainstorm examples from nature and everyday life. Encourage them to share other ideas.

Steps to Creating Your Collage

Walk through each step clearly. Demonstrate sketching and arranging sample paper shapes if possible.

Let’s Get Started!

Transition students to the hands-on portion. Remind them where supplies are and to work collaboratively.
