Conflict to Collaboration
Welcome everyone! Today we're learning how to turn peer conflicts into opportunities for collaboration. Introduce the session title and purpose. Explain that conflicts are normal and we’ll practice strategies to resolve them respectfully.
Read each objective aloud and explain why it matters. Engage students by asking if they’ve ever experienced these skills.
Prompt students to recall a recent conflict they saw or felt. Use follow-up questions to label emotions and stress that understanding feelings helps solve problems.
Display the Feelings Chart in the classroom. Point out a few emotions and ask students to locate where they’d mark their own.
Active Listening & “I” Statements
Introduce active listening steps and “I” statements. Model one example: “I feel upset when…” Ask a volunteer to try using an “I” statement.
Explain the role-play process: pairs will act out scenarios, switch roles halfway, and use the tips and cue cards to guide them.
After role-plays, invite pairs to share which strategies worked. Highlight examples of empathy and clear communication.
Hand out the reflection worksheet. Give students time to write and then ask a few volunteers to share insights.
Summarize the session by revisiting the three key takeaways. Encourage students to apply these skills every day.
