Students will learn the importance of healthy coping strategies, identify at least three techniques for managing stress, and practice applying one coping skill in a real scenario.

Coping Superpowers

Welcome students and introduce today’s topic. Explain that they will become “Coping Superheroes” by learning tools to manage stress. Use this slide as a warm greeting.

Lesson Objectives

Read through each objective aloud. Emphasize that by the end of the lesson, students should be able to do all three.

What Is Stress and Strong Emotion?

Facilitate a brief discussion: ask volunteers to share times they’ve felt stressed or upset. Record key words on the board. Emphasize that stress is a normal emotion.

Your Coping Strategies Handout

Pass out the handout now. Give students 1 minute to look it over before moving on.

Explore Coping Techniques

Model each technique step by step. Invite the class to follow along. Ask a volunteer to lead the next round of deep breathing.

Class Practice

Choose 2–3 volunteers to lead the class in each technique one more time. Offer feedback and encouragement.

Role-Play Application

Explain the pairing process and distribute scenario cards (or read them aloud). Set the timer for 2–3 minutes per pair. Circulate to observe and support.

Reflection & Commitment

Prompt students to write quietly. Then ask for 2–3 volunteers to share. Praise their commitments.
