Welcome participants and introduce the session. Explain that we’ll look at common myths about vaping and uncover the real facts.
Myth 1: "Vaping is just harmless water vapor"
Read the myth aloud and ask if anyone has heard this before. Then present the reality and emphasize the harmful chemicals in e-liquid.
Myth 2: "E-cigarettes are only used to quit smoking"
Highlight that while some use e-cigarettes to quit smoking, many non-smokers—especially young adults—start vaping without prior tobacco use.
Myth 3: "Vaping can’t harm bystanders"
Discuss secondhand aerosol. Ask: “Would you stand next to someone vaping indoors?” then share evidence about bystander risks.
Myth 4: "All vaping products are regulated and safe"
Explain FDA regulation basics and the rise of illicit products. Warn against unregulated additives like vitamin E acetate linked to lung injuries.
Wrap up the myth vs reality section and prepare participants for the interactive quiz. Provide instructions on accessing the quiz.
