Direction Detectives: Session 1

Welcome students warmly. Introduce yourself as Chief Detective. Explain that today they’ll become Direction Detectives and practice following fun actions.

Objectives

Read objectives clearly so students know the goal. Show excitement about learning to follow directions.

Materials

Review each material and show the Action Picture Cards if available.

Warm-up & Greeting

Gather students in a circle. Model the first action slowly and ask them to copy. Use enthusiastic voice.

Action Card Game

Shuffle the cards ahead of time. After each action, give specific praise (e.g., “Great job jumping!”) and hand out stickers.

Music Freeze

Start the music, then pause at unexpected times. Use clear, loud voice when calling directions.

Cool-down & Review

Lead a calm breathing exercise. Reinforce key directions by asking students to perform them one more time.

Assessment

Select a few students individually to follow a direction. Note accuracy mentally or on a clipboard.
