Emoji Empathy Explorer

Welcome students and introduce the lesson. • Say: “Today we’re Emoji Empathy Explorers! We will look at different emojis and talk about feelings.” • Explain the goal: to learn emotion words and practice empathy.

Happy 🙂

Show the happy emoji large on screen. • Ask: “What word do we use for this face?” • Have students make the happy face and share when they feel happy. • Write “happy” on the board.

Sad 😢

Display the sad emoji. • Ask: “What feeling is this?” • Invite a few volunteers to share when they’ve felt sad. • Emphasize kind words and help when friends feel sad.

Angry 😠

Show the angry emoji. • Ask: “Who knows this feeling?” • Discuss healthy ways to calm down: deep breaths, talking to an adult. • Reinforce that anger is okay but we choose safe actions.

Surprised 😮

Display the surprised emoji. • Ask: “What does this face show?” • Encourage students to describe times they were surprised (birthday gifts, loud noises). • Highlight the word “surprised.”

Let’s Share!

Prompt students to discuss in pairs. • Say: “Turn to your partner. Choose one emoji and share a time you felt that way.” • Circulate to listen and support empathy language (I feel…, I notice…).

Reflection & Closing

Wrap up the lesson and reinforce empathy. • Ask for volunteers to show their drawing and explain. • Praise students for sharing and listening. • Remind: “We can use these words to help friends feel understood.”
