My Superpower Plan

Students will learn to notice and name their emotions, view them as superpowers, and create a personalized plan with coping strategies for self-regulation. By session end, they will identify at least three emotions and build their own ‘superpower plan’.

Naming and understanding feelings empowers students to self-regulate, reduces impulsive reactions, and builds confidence in managing emotions independently.

Welcome, Emotional Superhero!

Welcome the student. Explain that just like superheroes have special powers, we all have emotional superpowers that help us understand and manage our feelings.

Meet the Happiness Hero

Introduce the idea that each emotion can be a hero. Prompt the student: “What’s a feeling you’ve had today?”

Anger Avenger

Explain that anger isn’t bad—it can be powerful energy. Ask: “What helps you calm down when you’re mad?”

Sadness Sentinel

Discuss how sadness can help us reflect and appreciate good times. Ask: “What cheers you up when you feel sad?”

Fear Fighter

Talk about fear as a guide that keeps us safe. Ask: “How do you feel brave when you’re scared?”

Name Your Feeling

Reinforce that naming emotions gives us power over them. Have the student think of an emotion they feel right now.

Your Emotional Superpower Plan

Lead the student to commit to using their emotional superpower plan daily. Prepare them for the next activity.
