Slide Deck

Good vs. Great Feedback

Introduce the session: Explain the difference between feedback that's merely “Good” and feedback that's “Great”—focus on the three traits. Encourage students to pay attention to examples.

Trait 1: Specific

Highlight the need for clear, descriptive feedback. Ask students how the specific example helps more than the vague one.

Trait 2: Kind

Discuss tone and word choice. Emphasize using “I” statements and focusing on the work, not the person.

Trait 3: Actionable

Stress that actionable feedback should guide the next steps. Ask students to suggest other actionable verbs.

Good vs. Great Feedback: Side-by-Side

Walk through both versions, pointing out elements of Specific, Kind, and Actionable in the great feedback. Invite students to spot each trait.

Try It Yourself!

Give students 2–3 minutes to write their versions. Then have a few volunteers share and discuss which traits they included.

Key Takeaways

Summarize the traits and encourage students to use this framework in the upcoming activities. Transition to the carousel activity.
