Welcome the student with a warm smile. Say: “Hi there! Today we’re going to play a game called Feeling Faces Fun. We’ll look at different feelings and make faces together!”
Show the Emotions Chart. Say: “This chart shows four feelings: happy, sad, angry, and surprised. Can you point to one you know?” Wait for response and praise.
Hold up the Happy face card from the Emotion Face Cards. Say: “This is happy. Say ‘happy’ with me!” After they repeat, give them the mirror. “Now make your happiest face and look in the mirror!”
Hold up the Sad face card. Say: “This is sad. Say ‘sad’!” Then hand the mirror. “Now make a sad face and look at yourself.” Offer gentle encouragement.
Hold up the Angry face card. Say: “This is angry. Say ‘angry’!” Then hand the mirror. “Now make an angry face. What does anger look like on your face?”
Hold up the Surprised face card. Say: “This is surprised. Say ‘surprised’!” Then hand the mirror. “Let’s see your surprised face—wow!”
Bring out the Emotions Chart again. Say: “Which feeling did you like making the most? Can you point to it on the chart and tell me about a time you felt that way?” Celebrate whatever they share.
