Feeling Friends Morning Meeting
Welcome students to the morning meeting. Explain that today we will be Feeling Friends—learning to notice and share our feelings.
Gather students in a circle with the Talking Stick in the center. Pass the stick and prompt a one-word check-in.
Introduce the set of emotion cards. Let students know you’ll show each card and discuss.
Show the [Emotion Cards](#feeling-friends-emotion-cards) “Happy” card. Ask: “What does this face show? When might you feel happy?” Invite volunteers.
Show the “Sad” card. Ask: “When have you felt sad? What helps you feel better?” Record ideas on the chart.
Show the “Angry” card. Ask: “What makes you feel angry? What can you do when you feel angry?”
Show the “Surprised” card. Ask: “Have you ever been surprised? How did you react?”
Display the [Feeling Friends Chart](#feeling-friends-chart). Under each feeling, write down students’ examples from the discussion.
Hand out or pass the Talking Stick again. Encourage each student to share a complete thought using a sentence starter.
Show the [Sentence Starter Cards](#feeling-friends-sentence-starters). Invite students to refer to them when it’s their turn.
Review the chart and emphasize why sharing is important. Lead the class cheer.
