In this 50-minute one-on-one session, the student identifies personal motivation barriers, brainstorms practical strategies, and commits to short- and long-term action steps to regain academic and personal momentum.

Feeling stuck can undermine motivation, performance, and self-confidence. This targeted intervention helps the student articulate obstacles, explore tailored solutions, and build a clear roadmap to progress, fostering resilience and self-efficacy.

Welcome the student, establish rapport, and introduce the session’s purpose. Emphasize confidentiality and that this is a safe space to share openly.

Session Agenda

Walk through the agenda briefly, inviting any questions. Use this slide to set expectations for structure and timing.

Identifying Your Barriers

Prompt the student to think of both internal and external barriers. Encourage at least three examples and note any patterns.

Creating Your Strategy Roadmap

Guide the student to brainstorm two concrete strategies for each barrier. Help them put strategies into a step-by-step sequence with clear milestones.

Next-Step Commitments

Encourage the student to commit to actions. Discuss potential challenges and backup plans. End with encouragement and schedule a follow-up.
