Welcome to Faces and Feelings!

Introduce the lesson with energy and excitement. Explain that the day we will explore emotions through faces and learn to recognize them.

What Are Emotions?

Define emotions in simple terms that 2nd graders can understand. Use gestures and exaggerated expressions to illustrate.

Happy Faces

Show images of a smiling face and discuss what makes someone happy. Encourage students to recall a happy moment.

Sad Faces

Show a sad face image and talk about the downturned mouth and teary eyes. Ask students when they felt sad.

Angry Faces

Discuss what an angry look might be. Encourage students to recognize anger by facial expressions such as furrowing eyebrows and a tight mouth.

Let's Play the Matching Game!

Introduce the interactive matching game. Explain how students will match facial expressions flashcards to the correct emotion. Encourage group participation.
