Feelings Factory Blueprint

Students will identify and express emotions by designing and producing “feeling products” in the Feelings Factory and reflect on healthy emotion-management strategies.

This lesson builds social-emotional skills—expanding emotional vocabulary, fostering self-management, and promoting healthy expression—laying a foundation for positive relationships and academic success.

Feelings Factory

Welcome students to the Feelings Factory! Explain that today we will turn our feelings into fun 'products' and learn how to express and manage emotions.

What Is a Feeling?

Define feelings as signals our body sends to tell us how we’re doing inside. Encourage a few student examples.

Emotion Words

Read each word aloud and ask students to share a time they’ve felt each emotion. Point out how feelings can be big or small.

Managing Emotions

Discuss each strategy, modeling deep breathing. Ask students when they might use each one.

Our Feelings Factory

Introduce the factory metaphor: our classroom is a factory where feeling products are made, tested, and shared.

Walk through the three main steps of the lesson, matching each to a station or activity area.

Highlight the CASEL competencies students will practice today: recognizing their feelings and managing them in healthy ways.
