Welcome everyone to our Feelings in Focus series! Introduce yourself and explain that over the next four sessions we’ll learn about our own emotions, notice how others feel, and practice ways to calm down when we’re upset.
Briefly explain the flow of all four sessions so students know what to expect.
Session 1: Recognizing Your Emotions
Use the [Emotion Flashcards Set](#emotion-flashcards-set) to warm up. Show each flashcard, name the emotion, and ask students to mimic the face.
Explain how Emotion Bingo works and distribute mini-charts and flashcards.
Session 2: Identifying Feelings in Others
Quickly review the chart and flashcards. Then move into activities for identifying others’ feelings.
Hand out [Emotion Masks Printable](#emotion-masks-printable). Explain role-play rules: one student wears a mask and acts out, partner guesses.
Session 3: Self-Regulation Strategies
Introduce why it’s helpful to calm down and share simple strategies.
Belly Breathing & Calm-Down Bottle
Model belly breathing: place a stuffed buddy on your belly, breathe deeply. Then demonstrate the calm-down bottle: shake and watch glitter settle.
Session 4: Practice & Reflection
Set up 3–4 scenario stations (e.g., waiting your turn, losing a game). Students rotate, act out with masks, and pick a strategy card to solve the challenge.
Celebrate each student’s effort, hand out Emotion Expert stickers, and remind them to practice new skills in class and at home.
