Slide Deck

Finding Your Calm

Welcome the student and set a positive tone. Explain that today’s session is all about finding ways to feel calm when big feelings come up.

Session Objectives

Orient the student to the session objectives. Read each bullet aloud and answer any questions.

Explore Your Feelings

Display the [Feelings Chart](#feelings-chart-visual). Point to each face and say the emotion. Invite the student to point out times they’ve felt each feeling.

Identify Your Triggers

Hand the student the [Trigger Identification Chart](#trigger-identification-chart). Coach them to think of situations (e.g., loud noise, test day) and write or draw what makes them feel big emotions.

Learn Calming Strategies

Show the [Calming Strategies Worksheet](#calming-strategies-worksheet). Read through each strategy and demo if helpful. Ask the student to circle three they’d like to try.

Practice Your Strategies

Use the [Calm-Down Strategy Cards](#calm-down-strategy-cards) to role-play each chosen technique. After each, ask “How calm do you feel now? (1 = not calm, 5 = very calm).”

Reflection & Next Steps

Give the student the [Reflection Journal Sheet](#reflection-journal-sheet). Encourage them to write or draw about the session. Summarize their reflections and confirm a follow-up plan.
