Slide Deck

Flip Your Inner Script

Welcome the student warmly. Introduce the session: “Today we’re going to learn how to notice and change negative or anxious thoughts into more balanced ones.” Explain Tier 3 support: one-on-one personalized strategies.

Learning Objectives

Read through each objective aloud. Emphasize the “why” behind each step.

Session Agenda

Outline the plan so the student knows what to expect. Reference the clock to keep on time.

Warm-Up Discussion

Use open body language. Ask follow-up questions such as “What did you notice in your body?” and “How strong was that thought?”

Identify Negative Thoughts

Show the Negative Thought Log handout. Guide the student to write specific examples and clarify any uncertainties.

Thought Reframing Activity

Provide the Thought Reframing Worksheet and Positive Counterexample Cards. Model the first entry: examine evidence for/against, then craft a balanced thought.

Reflection

Encourage the student to speak or write their answers. Listen actively and validate their insights.

Closing & Cool-Down

Lead two rounds of deep-breathing (inhale 4 seconds, hold 2, exhale 4). Offer a personalized affirmation (e.g., “I am capable of handling challenges”). Encourage the student to keep using the worksheets.
