Slide Deck

Focus Factor

Welcome students and introduce the session. Highlight that today’s focus is on understanding distractions and learning ways to stay on task.

Session Objectives

Read each objective aloud. Emphasize how these skills will help in class and beyond.

What Distracts You?

Ask students to take out their Distraction Inventory Chart. Give 1–2 minutes to list 3 top distractions. Invite volunteers to share.

Mindfulness Practice

Guide the group through the breathing exercise step by step. Model counts aloud and have students follow. Debrief how they felt.

Explore Focus Strategies

Hand out the Focus Strategies Exploration Worksheet. Ask students to match each strategy to a classroom scenario and circle the two they like best.

Your Personal Focus Plan

Distribute sticky notes. Prompt students to write 2–3 specific focus goals and the strategy they’ll use. Collect notes to review next time.

Next Steps

Encourage students to try their plans during the week and observe any improvements. Remind them you’ll revisit progress in the next session.
