Welcome, friends! Today we will discover what it means to be a good friend. We’ll sing a song, read a story, share ideas, make a friendship craft, practice role-playing, and celebrate kindness.
Gather students in a circle. Introduce the friendship song, teach hand motions (clap on “friend,” wave on “hello,” heart gesture on “love”). Encourage big voices and big smiles!
Show the book cover, then read aloud slowly. Pause at key moments to point out kind actions. Use your voice to show excitement and warmth.
Discussion: What Makes a Good Friend?
Invite students to share their ideas. Write each answer on the board. Guide them to use words like “kind,” “helpful,” and “caring.”
Feelings Reflection Chart
Display the chart and point to each face and word. Model saying, “I feel happy when my friend shares with me.” Encourage volunteers to point and name a feeling.
Hand out one template, crayons, scissors, and glue to each student. Walk around and praise every effort. Prompt them to think of a kind action.
Role-Play: Practice Being a Friend
Pair students and guide them through the script. Encourage eye contact and friendly voices.
Gather everyone back. Go around the circle and ask each child to share one kind thing they will do today. Hand out friendship stickers and celebrate!
