Slide Deck

From Conflict to Collaboration

Welcome, everyone! Today we're diving into conflict resolution. Introduce the lesson title and explain that by the end, students will know a simple 5-step process to turn disagreements into collaboration.

Lesson Objectives

Read through the objectives aloud. Emphasize the importance of practicing together and reflecting on how these skills help in real life.

Why Conflict Resolution?

Ask students: Why might learning to resolve conflict be useful? Collect a couple of responses before moving on.

Step 1: Pause & Listen

Display the [Five-Step Conflict Resolution Poster](#five-step-conflict-resolution-poster) as you introduce the first step. Model pausing by taking a deep breath.

Step 2: Identify the Problem

Provide an example: “I felt hurt when you took my marker.” Then ask a volunteer to practice identifying a problem.

Step 3: Brainstorm Solutions

Encourage students to shout out wild ideas. Stress that at this stage, no idea is a bad idea.

Step 4: Agree on a Solution

Guide students to pick solutions that respect everyone’s needs. Highlight compromise and fairness.

Step 5: Reflect on Outcome

Use the [Conflict Resolution Assessment Rubric](#conflict-resolution-assessment-rubric) to illustrate how we’ll reflect. Ask: What went well? What could improve?

Role-Play Activity

Divide into groups of three. Distribute one [Conflict Resolution Role-Play Scenarios](#conflict-resolution-role-play-scenarios) card per group. Assign roles: Person A, Person B, Observer. Give 8 minutes.

Debrief & Next Steps

Invite one or two groups to share key insights. Record responses on the board. Collect observer notes and close by encouraging use of these steps.
