Macronutrient Magic

Welcome students to the lesson. Introduce the topic and explain that today they’ll learn about the three macronutrients that fuel their bodies.

What Are Macronutrients?

Explain that macronutrients are nutrients we need in larger amounts. They give us energy and help our bodies grow, repair, and function every day.

Protein Power

Define protein and highlight its role in the body. Ask students to name other protein-rich foods they know.

Carb Champions

Explain carbohydrates as the body’s main fuel source. Invite students to share their favorite carb foods.

Fantastic Fats

Describe healthy fats and why they’re important. Clarify the difference between healthy and less–healthy fats.

Macronutrient Snapshot

Summarize each macronutrient’s main function. Use as a quick reference during activities.

Quick Check-In

Engage students by having them think of a snack or meal they love. Provide word banks or picture cards if needed.

Ready to Build Your Plate?
