Welcome students! Introduce today’s lesson: Hygiene Heroes Unite. Explain that we’ll learn key daily hygiene practices—handwashing, dental care, and personal cleanliness—to stay healthy and feel confident. Encourage excitement about interactive activities.
Review the lesson objectives. Ask students why each objective might matter to them personally. Emphasize that mastering these habits now builds a strong foundation for lifelong health.
Discuss how good hygiene reduces illness, prevents infection, and boosts self-esteem. Share a quick story or statistic about how germs spread in schools. Invite students to share any experiences they’ve had with hygiene-related issues.
Walk through each step slowly: wet, lather, scrub, rinse, dry. Demonstrate using the Handwashing Demonstration Kit. Highlight timing: at least 20 seconds of scrubbing, covering all surfaces including between fingers and under nails.
Guide students to the sink station. Distribute glitter gel or Glo Germ from the Handwashing Demonstration Kit. Instruct them to coat hands lightly, wash, then inspect under UV light to see missed spots. Facilitate discussion on surprises and tips to improve.
Show brushing and flossing techniques on a model or poster from the Dental Care Kit. Demonstrate brushing angles and flossing motions. Emphasize at least two minutes of brushing twice daily and flossing once daily to remove plaque and prevent cavities.
Personal Cleanliness Stations
Explain the three station topics and rotate groups every 3–4 minutes. At each station, students use the Personal Cleanliness Activity Cards to discuss and list best practices. Circulate to support and answer questions.
Reflection & Goal Setting
Distribute the Hygiene Reflection Worksheet. Ask students to write one personal goal for each hygiene topic. Encourage honest reflection and specific commitments. After writing, have students pair-share one goal to reinforce accountability.
Thank students for their participation. Remind them that small daily actions lead to big health benefits. Encourage them to practice their new skills at home and share what they learned with family or friends.
