Welcome students. Introduce today’s lesson: understanding and managing test anxiety. Explain that by the end of our 30 minutes, they’ll have new strategies and a personal confidence toolkit.
Ask students: “How do you feel before a big test?” Invite 2–3 volunteers to share. Emphasize that feeling nervous is normal and this lesson will help us feel more ready.
Identify Anxiety Triggers
Distribute the Anxiety Triggers Chart. In small groups, have students check off triggers they experience. Circulate and ask, “When did you notice this feeling?” Then ask each group to share one common trigger.
Practice Calming Techniques
Model two calming techniques (deep breathing and positive self-talk). Hand out the Calming Techniques Cards. Students pair up, pick a card, and practice for 1–2 minutes. Rotate so each tries two techniques. Debrief at the end.
Build Your Confidence Toolkit
Hand out the Confidence Toolkit Worksheet. Ask students to draw/write their top 3 calming strategies and an encouraging phrase. Let them decorate it. Collect worksheets or have students keep them on their desks.
Invite 1–2 students to show their favorite toolkit item. Reinforce the message that when they feel anxious, they can use these strategies and remember their preparation. Remind them to use the toolkit before the next test.
