Slide Deck

Jitters to Confidence

Welcome students to the lesson. Introduce the title and goals: learn tools to manage test anxiety and build confidence. Mention that we’ll practice breathing, positive self-talk, and planning.

What Is Test Anxiety?

Ask: “How do you feel before a test?” Note common responses. Explain that these feelings are called test anxiety and that everyone experiences them. Introduce signs of anxiety and the lesson roadmap.

Deep Breathing Exercise

Distribute the Breathing Exercises Handout. Explain belly breathing step by step: inhale 4 seconds, hold 2 seconds, exhale 6 seconds. Model one cycle, then lead three cycles together. Ask how students feel afterward.

Positive Self-Talk Practice

Introduce the concept of self-talk as a friendly inner voice. Show the Positive Self-Talk Prompt Cards. Have each student pick a card, read it aloud, then pair up to practice saying positive statements to each other.

Test Prep Planning Technique

Hand out the Test Prep Planning Checklist. Walk through each item: gathering materials, scheduling study blocks, setting break reminders. Ask students to draft a quick plan for an upcoming test. Circulate to support.

Reflection & Wrap-Up

Invite volunteers to share which strategy they found most helpful and why. Reinforce importance of practicing these tools before and during tests. Remind students to take materials home and continue practicing.
