Welcome, everyone! Today we will learn about kindness. Explain that by the end of our lesson, we will be able to: define kindness, spot examples of kind and unkind behaviors, and create our very own kindness pledge.
Display the [Kindness Chart](#kindness-chart) on the board. Ask students: “What does kindness mean to you?” Record responses. Highlight that kindness can be helping, sharing, or saying kind words.
Scenario Sorting Activity
Divide students into groups of 3–4. Hand out the [Kindness Scenario Cards](#kindness-scenario-cards). Ask each group to sort their cards into two piles: “Kind” and “Not Kind.” Circulate and prompt discussion: “Why is this kind?” or “How could we make it kinder?”
Read each scenario aloud. After each, ask the class to show a thumbs-up if it’s kind or thumbs-down if it’s not kind.
Distribute the [Kindness Pledge Worksheet](#kindness-pledge-worksheet) to each student. Read the prompt together: “I will show kindness by …” Encourage neat writing or drawing, and let students decorate with stickers.
Invite volunteers to share their pledges with the class. After each share, classmates give a thumbs-up or sticker. Collect pledges and post them on a “Kindness Wall” to remind everyone of our commitments.
