The Magic of Yet

Welcome students! Introduce today’s lesson: “The Magic of Yet.” Explain that we’ll learn how a small word can change how we think about challenges. Point out our objectives on the slide.

Fixed vs Growth Mindset

Display or refer to the Growth Mindset Anchor Chart. Define fixed vs growth mindset. Ask students: What’s one thing you believe you “can’t” do? Note it without “yet.”

Volunteer Share

Invite 1–2 volunteers to share a challenge they wrote down. Write their original statement on the board, then guide the class to add “yet.”

Pair Discussion

Explain pair activity instructions. Circulate to check for understanding and encourage students to be creative.

Individual Reflection

Distribute the Yet Reflection Worksheet. Encourage students to think deeply about personal challenges and authentic reframes.

Share & Debrief

Select 2–3 students to share their reframed statements. Highlight how adding “yet” changed their perspective and feelings.

Conclusion

Summarize the lesson and reinforce that “yet” is a tool for resilience. Encourage students to use it in daily life.
