Introduce the topic by explaining that today we're going to learn about self-regulation, which means managing our feelings. Ask the students if they've ever felt too excited or upset and what they did.

What is Self-Regulation?

Explain that self-regulation helps us stay calm. Use examples like taking slow breaths and counting when feeling upset or excited.

Emotion Management Strategies

Discuss each strategy briefly. Give an example of how deep breathing might feel, or how counting can help slow down racing thoughts. Expand on more strategies such as progressive muscle relaxation and mindfulness exercises.

Guided Practice & Reflection

Guide the students through a simple deep breathing exercise. After the exercise, instruct them to complete their reflection worksheet, noting which strategy they practiced and how it made them feel. Encourage a brief discussion afterwards.
