Me Power Lesson Plan

Students will identify and celebrate their personal strengths by designing a personalized “Me Power” cape and confidently sharing their superpower with classmates to foster self-awareness and public speaking skills.

Building self-awareness and confidence at an early age helps children develop a positive self-concept and communication skills essential for social and academic success.

Slide Deck

Me Power!

Welcome students! Introduce today’s fun activity: designing a Me Power cape to show off a special superpower you have. Explain that a cape is like a special blanket that shows who we are. Use bright colors (#CE93D8, #BA68C8, #AB47BC) on the title slide to get their attention.

Our Superpower Rubric

Show the [Cape Creativity Criteria Rubric](#cape-creativity-criteria-rubric) on the board. Read each bullet slowly, modeling what originality, clarity, color use, and neatness look like. Ask a student volunteer to point to a criteria.

Design Your Me Power Cape

Hand out a copy of the [Me Power Cape Template](#me-power-cape-template) and art supplies to each student. Walk around to help children think of their superpower and encourage symbols or drawings.

Share Your Superpower

Gather students in a circle. Invite each child to stand, hold up their cape, and say: “My Me Power is ___.” After each share, prompt classmates to give a thumbs-up or say one nice thing.

Superpower Shout-Out

Lead a quick reflection: ask how it felt to share and what they liked about friends’ capes. Encourage specific praise linked to the rubric (e.g., “I liked your bright colors!”).

Display Time!

Explain that the capes will be displayed so everyone can see and remember each other’s strengths. Invite helpers to place capes on the bulletin board.
