Why Explore Emotions?

Discuss the importance of understanding and expressing emotions. Explain that emotions are a fundamental part of human experience and that art can be a powerful tool for expressing them.

What is a Metaphor?

Introduce the concept of metaphors and how they can be used to represent emotions visually. Provide a simple definition and examples of metaphors in everyday language.

Visual Metaphor Examples

Show examples of visual metaphors in art. Discuss how each example represents an emotion and what elements contribute to that representation.

Brainstorming Session

Guide students through a brainstorming session. Encourage them to think about different emotions and how they might represent them visually. Provide the emotion word list for inspiration.

Create Your Art

Explain the art creation activity. Provide instructions on using the art supplies to create a piece of art that represents their chosen emotion through a metaphor. Encourage creativity and personal expression.

Share and Reflect

Facilitate a sharing session where students present their artwork to the class. Encourage them to explain their metaphor and the emotion it represents. Lead a discussion on the different emotions and metaphors presented.

Reflection
