Lesson Plan

Mindful Moments Routine

Students will engage in a 10-minute mindfulness routine to enhance focus, reduce stress, and cultivate self-awareness through breathing, guided imagery, and reflection.

Regular short mindfulness sessions build attention, emotional regulation, and a positive classroom climate, helping 3rd graders start or reset their day with calm and readiness to learn.

Breathing Exercise

Invite students to settle into a comfortable seated position. Model and guide the breathing: “Breathe in quietly through your nose for a count of four... hold for two... exhale gently for six.” Encourage them to follow along.

Body Scan

Lead students through each body part slowly. Pause between prompts to give them time to notice sensations.

Guided Imagery

Use a calm, steady tone. Allow a few seconds of quiet after each image so kids can fully picture it.

Awareness Check

Encourage students to simply notice without judging. Invite a few whispers of sharing if time allows.

Transition to Learning

Slowly guide students back: “When you’re ready, open your eyes.” Highlight their calm focus and transition smoothly.
