Mindful Mood Masters Lesson Plan

Students will learn to identify and regulate their emotions using an emotion wheel and mindful breathing techniques, building self-awareness and practical coping skills.

Emotional regulation boosts focus, reduces stress, and fosters positive peer interactions by equipping students with strategies to recognize and mindfully manage their feelings.

Welcome students and introduce yourself. Explain that today’s session is about understanding and managing emotions.

Read each objective aloud. Invite questions or quick examples.

What Is Emotional Regulation?

Define emotional regulation and ask students for examples of times they’ve managed big feelings.

Emotion Wheel

Distribute [Emotion Wheel Worksheet](#emotion-wheel-worksheet). Model how to locate and circle specific feelings. Ask students to list emotions they felt this week.

Mindful Breathing

Hand out [Mindful Breathing Guide Cards](#mindful-breathing-guide-cards). Lead students through two rounds of the 4-4-6 breathing exercise.

Reflection

Distribute [Exit Ticket: Emotion Reflection](#exit-ticket-emotion-reflection). Allow 5 minutes for students to complete.
