Mindful Movers Lesson Plan

Students will build self-regulation skills by engaging in two playful mindful movement games, practicing breath control, and reflecting on their emotions through guided activities.

This focused, 15-minute session equips 3rd graders with practical tools—mindful movement and breathing exercises—to recognize and manage emotions, reduce impulsivity, and improve focus in class.

Introduction & Check-In

Gather students in a circle. Ask them how they’re feeling and point to the Emotion Thermometer.

Explain the rules of Slow-Motion Simon Says and model a few moves.

Game 2: Emotion Thermometer Freeze

Guide students through breathing and reflection on their sheets.
