Students will learn and practice mindfulness and stress-reduction techniques to foster better mental wellness and develop lifelong coping strategies.

This lesson helps high school students manage stress, improve focus, and maintain calm during challenging situations by introducing proven mindfulness exercises.

Welcome to Mindfulness & Stress Reduction

Introduce the session with a calming tone. Explain the purpose of the lesson and set expectations for the session.

What is Mindfulness?

Discuss what mindfulness is, why it's beneficial, and how it can be applied in everyday life. Invite a short group discussion about any previous experiences with mindfulness.

Breathing Exercises

Explain the breathing technique clearly and demonstrate slowly. Emphasize the physiological benefits of slow, deliberate breathing and create an atmosphere of calm.

Guided Meditation

Set up the guided meditation session using the prepared audio track if available. Allow a few moments for silence after instructions to let the students settle into the meditation.

Creative Visualization & Reflection

Guide the students through a creative visualization exercise. Encourage them to imagine a safe, calm space and then reflect on the experience through journaling or discussion.
