Mirror Magic: Session 1

Welcome everyone to Mirror Magic Session 1. Introduce yourself and explain that over six sessions we’ll build self-esteem through fun activities and reflections. Encourage students to participate and remind them this is a safe, respectful space.

Today’s Objectives

Read aloud the objectives. Emphasize that understanding self-esteem, creating norms, and getting to know each other will help us work together as a team.

What Is Self-Esteem?

Define self-esteem: how we think and feel about ourselves. Ask 1–2 volunteers to share times they felt proud or confident.

Icebreaker Activity

Explain the icebreaker steps and monitor time. After each round, prompt a few pairs to share something interesting they learned about each other.

Establishing Group Norms

Gather student suggestions and write them on chart paper. Guide the group to select the top five norms. Pass out the Group Norms Agreement Sheet (#mirror-magic-session1-norms-agreement-sheet) for signatures.

Reflection & Closing

Hand out the Self-Esteem Reflection Worksheet (#mirror-magic-session1-reflection-worksheet). Ask students to write one way they already practice positive self-talk. Collect worksheets and preview Session 2 on celebrating strengths.
