Lesson Plan

Mirror Moment Map

Students will engage in a quick check-in using ‘mirror’ reflections to set a personal goal, monitor their behaviors, and strengthen self-awareness and accountability.

By guiding 2nd graders through targeted check-in/check-out activities, this lesson builds self-regulation skills, fosters positive behavior, and offers Tier 2 support for those needing extra behavioral scaffolding.

Mirror Moment: Check-In

Use an enthusiastic tone to set a positive tone. Invite students to look into their “mirror” and think silently about their goal before sharing.

Set Your Personal Goal

Encourage students to keep goals specific and achievable. Provide examples if needed (e.g., ‘I will raise my hand before speaking.’).

Plan Your Actions

Prompt students to think of concrete, actionable steps. Model one action yourself first.

Exit Reflection

Remind students this helps track progress. Encourage honest ratings.
