Why Is Motivation Important?

Welcome Back to Motivation Quest!

Welcome the student and briefly review what motivation means. Ask her to share one interest from last session and the goal she set.

Strategy 1: Break Tasks into Small Steps

Explain that breaking a big goal into small, doable steps makes it feel easier. Use her example (e.g., finishing a book) to illustrate.

Strategy 2: Use Reminders

Discuss different types of reminders (sticky notes, alarms, drawing, saying it out loud). Ask her which she might like.

Strategy 3: Positive Self-Talk

Introduce positive self-talk as a way to encourage herself. Model a few phrases and have her try one.

Ready for a Board Game?

Transition to an interactive board game to practice these strategies in a fun way.
