Lesson Plan

Muscle Group Map

Students will identify major muscle groups on a visual map, connect each to physical movements via an interactive slide deck, and set personalized workout milestones using a progress log and effort rubric.

Understanding muscle groups connects anatomy to movement, fosters physical awareness, and empowers students to track and improve their strength safely.

Slide Deck

Anatomy in Action: Exploring Muscle Groups

Welcome the student and introduce the session. Explain that today’s deck, “Anatomy in Action,” will help them identify major muscles and see how they work in movement.

Major Muscle Groups

Show a full-body diagram with numbered callouts. Ask the student to guess which muscle each number refers to before revealing the name.

Upper Body Muscles

Zoom in on the upper body area. Ask the student to point to each muscle and describe its function.

Lower Body Muscles

Highlight the legs and hips. Encourage the student to name exercises that use these muscles.

Explain that this video demonstrates a bodyweight squat and points out which muscles engage. Encourage the student to pay attention to form.

Interactive Activity: Label the Muscles

Have the student drag labels onto the blank diagram. Guide them one by one and provide hints if they struggle.

Reflection & Next Steps

Prompt the student to reflect on what they learned and write a specific practice goal in the Strength Progress Log worksheet.
