Introduce the lesson and get students excited about moving their bodies!
• Greet everyone and say: “Today we’re going On the Move! We’ll learn six fun ways to move our bodies.”
• Show the slide and point to the title and image.
• Review the objective: “We will practice walking, running, jumping, hopping, skipping, and sliding.”
Lead a fun warm-up to prepare students’ muscles and joints.
• Say: “Let’s wake up our bodies gently before we move fast!”
• Model each action and encourage big, slow motions.
• Remind students to breathe and listen.
Explain each locomotor movement using the visual chart.
• Point to each name on the chart and demonstrate.
• Have students copy you twice, watching form and safety.
• Reinforce heel-toe walking, bent arms for running, and soft landings.
Go over Walking & Running details and common tips for success.
• Demonstrate a slow walking demo and highlight heel-toe.
• Show running with quick steps and mid-foot landing.
• Emphasize safety—look forward, maintain balance.
Explain Jumping & Hopping. Encourage students to use arms to help lift.
• Model a jump, swinging arms overhead.
• Model hopping on one foot and switch mid-station.
• Remind them to land softly with knees bent.
Cover Skipping & Sliding. Show rhythm and side-to-side movement.
• Demonstrate skipping with a smooth step-hop rhythm.
• Show sliding in a low, side-to-side stance.
• Encourage students to feel the beat of the music.
Locomotor Stations (15 min)
Introduce stations and how rotations work.
• Divide students into six groups and assign a station.
• Explain music cue: When music stops, rotate clockwise.
• Emphasize safety—look before moving and keep space.
Cool-Down & Reflection (5 min)
Guide students through cooling down and reflect on their favorite movements.
• Lead slow walking and gentle stretches.
• Ask reflection questions and invite volunteers to share.
• Praise effort and note any students who need extra practice.
